Roast my resume

A resume roast is honest feedback with jokes. Lala, SevyDevy's AI mentor, reads your resume, picks the 3 to 5 problems that hurt it most, roasts each one, and gives a real fix for every joke. Pick mild, medium or savage, in English or Hinglish. It roasts the resume, never you.

Loading the resume check…

Drop your resume and get a free format check right away, no login. Log in and your first full check is on us.

After that, a quick check costs 20 credits and the ATS check 50 credits (Advanced from 30 credits), refunded if a check fails. How credits work

  • Every joke points at a real line in your resume
  • Every joke ends with a fix you can make today
  • Your file is not kept, and your roast is private

What does a resume roast look like?

Each roast has three parts: the joke, the exact line from your resume it is about, and the fix. Here are three samples from a fresher backend resume.

  • SampleMedium · English

Eleven bullets, zero numbers. Did anything get faster, bigger or cheaper? We'll never know.

    From the resume

Built REST APIs for the order service.

FixAdd one number per bullet: users, time or %.

  • SampleMedium · Hinglish

Nau bullets "Worked on" se shuru. Kis pe kaam kiya? Chala bhi?

    Resume mein

    Worked on the login module.

FixAsli verb se shuru karo: Built, Cut, Shipped.

  • SampleSavage · English

Two columns. The ATS read your skills in the middle of your internship. Your resume is a word search now.

    From the resume

Java, Spring Boot, MySQL Software Intern, [Company] Jun 2025

    FixOne column, top to bottom.

How spicy is each heat level?

The heat changes the tone, never the truth. Here is one real problem said three ways.

The same resume problem at each heat level
HeatWhat it sounds likeSame problem at this heat
MildA kind senior looking over your resume before placements."Your bullets say what you did. Add what changed and they will land much harder."
MediumA friend who tells you the truth, with a joke attached."Eleven bullets, zero numbers. Did anything get faster, bigger or cheaper? We'll never know."
SavageA group chat with no filter, aimed only at the resume."Eleven bullets and not one number. This reads like a to-do list you finished and forgot."

Same truth at every heat. The fix does not change: add one number per bullet, like users, time saved or %.

What does Lala never roast?

Lala roasts lines in your resume, never the person behind them. These are off limits at every heat, savage included. If a gap or a low CGPA needs handling, Lala suggests how to present it and never jokes about it.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is the roast mean?

It is honest, not cruel. Lala jokes about lines in your resume, like vague bullets or a messy layout, and never about you. Mild is gentle, medium has a little sting and savage is blunt. At every level, each joke points at a real problem and ends with a fix you can make today.

Can I get it in Hinglish?

Yes. Pick Hinglish before you start and Lala roasts in the mix of Hindi and English most of us actually talk in, written in English letters. The quoted lines from your resume stay exactly as you wrote them, and every fix is just as specific as it is in English.

Does a roast fix my resume?

Not by itself. A roast picks the three to five problems that hurt your resume most and gives one clear fix for each. You make the edits. If you want the rewrite done with you, open the Resume Optimizer, then run an ATS check against a real job post to confirm the score moved.

What is the difference between a roast and an ATS check?

An ATS check is the full inspection: 70 checks, a score, missing keywords from the job post and every fix ranked by points. A roast is the short, funny version: only the few problems that matter most, said in a way you will remember. Start with a roast for motivation, then run the ATS check before applying.

Is my resume stored?

The file itself is not kept. The text read from it and your roast are saved privately to your account, so you can reopen it later. Only you can see them: there is no public link, no share button and nothing for search engines to index. Roasts are for you, not for posting. Delete any roast from Your checks.

Is the resume roast free?

Only if the roast is your first full check: every account gets one free Standard check after login. After that, each roast costs 20 credits (30 credits for Advanced), shown before you start, and refunded if it fails. The format check is free as well, needs no login and runs in your browser.
